The Video Copilot Dash Camera VC-100
This unique product is a Video Camera and DVR all in one that is as easy to install as a GPS or Radar Detector.
This is a high quality product that requires no buttons to push to start recording like the cheap units you see for less money. Operating system is Linux for stability and reliability you can trust.
It records video and sound (if you enable) as soon as you turn on the ignition and records continuously on an 8gb Compact Flash (CF) card. Once the card is full it overwrites the oldest files so you have a continuous history of approximately 10 hours of events using the supplied 8gb CF card at the standard frame rate of 30 FPS.
For longer recording capacity you can use up to a 32gb CF card.
It mounts on the windshield with a suction cup mount and plugs into your vehicle's cigarette light outlet. Or you can wire it direct to the fuse box is you prefer. It has video output that you can attach to a monitor (separate purchase) or you can connect it to your vehicles radio if it has a line in for video. Many aftermarket car stereos have this ability.
Our Model VC-100 uses a Sony CCD lens for the highest quality video as opposed to the CMOS which is of a lower quality. This product is of the highest quality and is not to be compared to lower end recorders. The operating system is Linux for stability and reliability.

This unit features playback on the camera itself and has inputs to plug an external camera in making the unit a DVR only. It cannot record both cameras at once. Videos are stored on a micro SD card up to 32gb.
Output allows you to play back the video to the onboard LCD or other monitor of TV via the supplied cable. The SD card is NOT included with this camera. a 16gb card is around $30-35.00 at various retailers online. It comes with the suction mount you see as well as a visor clip mount.
An optional AC power supply for indoor use can be purchased as well. The lens is CMOS which provides quality day video but the night recording is not the quality the CCD lens provides. Sample videos are available under video samples.
Overall it is a quality product if your needs or preference is to be able to view the video anytime by playing it back on the LCD viewer. It also records for an additional 30 seconds up to 15 minutes after you turn the car off.
